“Collective engagement for the religious co-existence”

On 19th December 2017, National Peace Council along with the coordination of Right to Life Human Rights Center organized meeting to formulate a District Inter Religious Committee in Negombo, Gampaha District. Under the theme of “Collective engagement for Religious co-existence”  the initiation has begun with the representatives of both government and civil society representatives, religious leaders.

The same initiation has been started in the selected divisional secretariats Vavuniya, Mannar, Akurana, Attalaichenai, Beruwela, Negombo, Weligama, and Mahiyanganaya with the representation of Religious Leaders, Grama Niladarai, Government Officers, Police Officers and Civil Society representatives.

The objective of forming the committees is to create religious co-existence in the selected divisional secretariats in order to create a conducive environment for the community members to live in ensuring the respect for each religion in the community by establishing the right to religion.
