Philip Dissanayake (Executive Director – 2002 onwards)

Philip Dissanayake is a well-known Human Rights Defender who was born on 6th September 1967 at Matara and former student of St. Thomas College Matara.

Founder member of “Sri Lankan NGOs’ Collective against Torture” since 2011. Executive committee member of “Families of the Disappeared”(FOD) from 2002 to up to now. Co-organizer of “Platform for Freedom” movement (PFF) from 2009 to till now acts the executive committee member & organizing committee member up to now. Founder Member and Convener of “Veediye Virodaya” - Change with Reforms Movement since 2014. Coordinator of “National Movement for New Constitution” (NMNC) since 2017.

He is a veteran civil society leader, journalist and a vibrant speaker. In 2011 & 2016 represented Sri Lankan Civil society in Geneva during the United Nations Committee Against Torture (UNCAT). He worked as news editor of “Haraya” Sinhala newspaper since 1992 -2001. Chief editor “Niveka” Sinhala monthly newspaper 2002-2005. Editor of “Right to Life” Sinhala bi-month magazine from 2007 to 2009. Consultant of “Aithiya” Newsletter and website since 2010.

Prasanga Fernando (Network Coordinator & Programme Manager - 2007 onwards)

Prasanga Fernando is Human Rights Activists and has experience in project planning, implementation, montioring and evluation over a period of nine years in the field of Human Rights protection and promotion and Civil Society Engagement in collaboaration with multidisciplinary stakeholders such as Government Department and International and Local Non-Governemental Organizationations.

Currently works as Network Coordinator of Right to Life Human Rights Centre. Coordinating with the other civil society organizations in similiar interest to ensure democracy in the country.

Key skills cover a wide spectrum ranging from facilitation of citizen /stakeholder enhancing accountability of civil society organizations towards strengthing democracy in the country, empowering women groups with regard to Human Rights and engaging in conducting TOT for local journalists in the area of journalists‘ protection in collabaration with Rights Now Organization and mobilizing activits at local level to stand for Human Rights and developing strategies to protect torture victims and their families and also families of dessapeared.

He was employed in the Right to Life Human Righs Center as Legal Coordinator.Main tasks in the employment includes facilitation and coordination of reported cases of torture and dessapeared with Judicial system and Human Rights Commision, Police Commision Attorney General Department and Police Department. Mobilize victims and their families to lobby the government for justice. Organize lawyars‘ and journalists‘ forum to obtain their collabaration to give publicity for the cases and seek social justice over injustice. I have previously worked as a journalist in Center for People’s Dialogue (CPD).

Anthony Vinoth (Administrative Officer & Project Manager - 2014 onwards)

Anthony Vinoth, a young Human Rights Defender was born on 8th December 1990. He is an undergraduate of Open University of Sri Lanka, following a Bachelor’s Degree programme in Social Sciences (Politics & International Studies) and follows a Diploma in Diplomacy and World Affairs at Bandaranayake International Diplomatic Training Institute. Coordinator of Sri Lankan NGOs’Collective against Torture. Member of South Asian Regional Network against Torture.

Worked as a Database Officer and Translator at Families of the Disappeared (FOD) in 2014 (January to December). Worked as editor of “Aithiya” Tamil Newsletter and Translator. From 2005 January to 2013 November he was under priestly formation at Claretian Congregation.

He is a dramatist, a musician, and debater and interested in travelling and driving and he is a rider.

Kalpani Perera (Finance Officer – 2016 onwards)

Kalpani Perera is a Bachelor of Science (Business Administration) External Sri Jayawardanepura University Colombo, Sri Lanka. She is from Moratuwa. She has followed an Intermediate Certificate of Association of Accounting Technicians of Sri Lanka (AAT), Accountancy and Taxation of Professional Accounting Institute Sri Lanka, Computer based Accounting of London business School (PVT) LTD Sri Lanka.

Works as Finance Officer at Right to Life Human Rights Centre.

She has worked as Accountant from 2004 to 2014 at ACE International Recruitment Consultants (PVT) Ltd.

Pubudu Randima (Legal Officer & Project Coordinator – 2016 onwards)

Pubudu Randima born on 12th December1990, Completed Bachelor of Law Degree (LLB) Programme at Open University of Sri Lanka and completed diploma in Criminology & Criminal Justice at Sri Lanka Foundation Institute. Followed a course on Social Harmony.

He has successfully Completed 3 Months Internship Programme at Rights Now-Collective for Democracy in 2014. Works as Legal Officer at Right to Life Human Rights Center from 2016.

Suranjan Prasad (Media Coordinator – 2016 onwards)

He was born on 9th November 1985. He received his education from St. Theresa Maha Vidyalaya, Thalwila, Marawila. Media Officer at Right to Life Human Rights Center from 01st of May 2016 onwards. Uploading and Maintaining “Right to Life” & “Aithiya” Websites from 1st May 2016 onwards.Successfully Completed 06 months still Cameraman & Videography Course at National Youth Council in 2006.

4 years worked as still Cameraman & Videographer at Rushan Studio & Digital Colour Lab – Mahawewa since 2007 – 2010. Worked and working as Wedding Photographer and Videographer and take orders to supplying video & photo for all weddings and other all kinds of functions.Worked as Trainee Assistant Supervisor at Marawila Coconut Producer’s Co-operative Sale Society Limited from 01st March 2011 to 01st March 2012 and worked as Still Photographer at the Ministry of State Resource & Enterprises Development (SR&ED) from 2014 to 2015.

Rashmika Wijesinghe (Database Officer )

Rashmika Wijesinghe was born on December 1997 and followed early studies at Holy Cross College in Gampaha. Following a diploma in Travel Tourism and Hospitality Management and obtained the Association of Accounting Technicians of Sri Lanka (up to second stage) Worked as Research Officer at Center for Policy alternatives in 2017

Lakshan Fernando (Legal Coordinator and Project Coordinator)

Lakshan Fernando1989 October 16, received his early education St. Sebastian College at Moratuwa. Completed Bachelor of Law Degree (LLB) Programme at Open University of Sri Lanka and followed a course on Social Harmony and Transitional Justice. He has successfully completed 3 Months Internship Programme at Rights Now-Collective for Democracy in 2014. Worked as Legal and Administrative Officer at Families of the Disappeared from 2016.

Works as Legal Officer at Right to Life Human Rights Center from 2018.
