State Minister who forcibly entered into Anuradhapura prison threatens prisoners

We strongly condemn the government minister breaking into the Anuradhapura prison with holding an automatic weapon on International Prisoners’ Day. An inquiry should be held on this immediately, said Anuradhapura District Samagi Janabalawegaya MP Rohana Bandara

He was opposing against Minister of State Lohan Ratwatte’s visit to the Anuradhapura Prison on the eve of International Prisoner ‘s Day (12th) and the shooting a pistol on the head of prisoner number 140 detained at the Maximus Prison (Maximus).

MP Rohana Bandara further commented.

This Minister is very famous for taking firearms, wearing trousers and going to temples and forcibly entered inside the prisons.

He had entered the Anuradhapura prison at dawn. His security personnel were present at that time. He went inside wearing jeans. When no outsider could enter the prison, he took a firearm. Even prison officers did not go to the prisons with firearms.

Prisoner No. 140, who is being held on a Vavuniya court order, is the one who took out and knelt down and put the loaded pistol on his head.

Where did he get the authority to act like this?

Mahesh Wijesuriya, Anuradhapura
