It was reported in February 2008 four students, studying at Hambanthota Meegahajadura Maha Vidyalaya , and another young man were allegedly arrested, tortured and filed a case on fabricated charges.
Hambanthota Magistrate ,who heard the case, bailed them out on cash & personal bonds .
Since two of the boys could not pay the cash bond they were imprisoned. They were put in the same prison along with elderly prisoners.
Now the students are not allowed to attend the school. Due to this fabricated charges
boys as well as their parents are going through a severe pain of mind. Desperate parents of the boys have drawn the attention of the Chief Justice on his matter As a result this will be taken up in Supreme Court. on case Nos.5/2008 6/2008
